Tropheus duboisi are one of the dwarf cichlids and are sometimes described as a shell dwelling variety.
In the wild they are more likely to seek refuge amongst
rocks. A similar
substrate made up of small rocks and rubble is the best choice for the white spotted cichlid aquarium.
The colouration of tropheus duboisi changes as young fish develop into adulthood.
Initially they display rows of white spots on a dark background. Toward maturity the spots transform into white patchy bands.
Feeding Tropheus
In the wild tropheus scrape algae from rocks and other objects.
Feed your tropheus duboisi a varied diet for best health. Quality
spirulina vegetable flake should be supplemented with fresh and frozen green food.
An occasional
brine shrimp or other protein tidbit is beneficial, but regular feedings of meat based foods will result in Malawi bloat.
Breeding Tropheus
Like other cichlids tropheus duboisi
show excellent maternal care to their fry. They are a typical mouthbreeder so
expect small batches of baby fish.
