Aquarium Heater
The ability to control an aquarium's temperature has allowed captive fish to be kept in temperature zones far away from their natural environment.
Coldwater fish can be kept comfortable with the use of an aquarium chiller. These are primarily used on marine aquariums to recreate a chilled ocean environment.
In the past aquarium heating has been achieved using gas powered flames beneath the fish tank. Today's modern devices are powered by electricity.
Although a heater has a thermostat it is important to monitor the actual temperature using a thermometer. Most heaters will become a degree or two off the reading on the heater's adjustment dial. The thermometer allows you to calibrate and monitor an aquarium heater's performance.
Aquarium heaters come complete with suction cups to attach the device to the aquarium. In time these may perish and become unusable. If this is the case they can be replaced with an inexpensive heater holder.
