Fish Breeding Equipment
An aquarium fish breeding device is not a necessity to buy, but can be useful for the hobbyist with limited space or an unexpected brood.
Given the fairly cheap cost they are always a worthwhile investment. If an aquarium fish breeding device saves only a few fish it will have paid for itself in the long term.
There are a number of designs but all work by isolating the parent fish from the rest of the aquarium. Some also protect the fry or eggs from any hungry parent fish. Some are free floating while other breeding devices attach to the side of the aquarium. Avoid using free floating units in turbulent aquariums as they can tip over.
They are fun and educational for children. Enquiring minds can witness the birth process more easily than letting the fish birth in an open aquarium. If you have found yourself frustrated while trying to photograph or video a fish these devices are also handy. The clear perspex varieties allow steady close ups of the captive fish.
