Riccia Plant
Aquatic riccia fluitans is a free floating plant with no need for roots. It has a bright lime green color that is most catching to the eye as it contrasts well with many other aquarium plants. It grows as thin strands which mesh together into a greater clump. It can float at the top of the aquarium or be anchored to hard objects to which it will adhere after a period of weeks.
Riccia is a versatile plant that will grow attractively in most aquariums as long as the light is plentiful. The pH can sit anywhere between an acidic 6 and an alkaline 8 for riccia to be happy. Riccia also tolerates a range of water hardness levels from soft through to hard.
To attach riccia to a log or rock take some twine and wrap it around the plant and object so that they are tightly pressed together. After a few weeks bonds will have formed between the riccia and the object.
