Ludwigia Arcuata Plant
This Ludwigia species is a useful plant for partially sunny or full sun ponds and fountains where it will grow in the shallows and moist soil with foliage both above and below the water. Ludwigia will begin flowering late in spring and continue through summer. It produces buttercup yellow flowers that contrast beautifully with the leaves.
Ludwigia propagates itself by forming runners. It grows rapidly given ideal conditions. Ludwigia is best suited to sunny or semi-shaded areas.
Ludwigia thrives in warmer areas. In southern states Ludwigia may also prove useful depending on your individual situation.
These Ludwigia plants photographed are from an outdoor situation but I have also grown them indoors in a brightly lit aquarium. They grow much bushier when submerged, with the leaves bunched up on the stem. The old air grown Ludwigia leaves will die back after a few weeks but before they do the new aquatic growth will have begun.
