Hair grass has fine cylindrical leaves which grow to under 10cm in height. These leaves have a needle like appearance and contast well with a rocky background.
Hair Grass is a useful aquarium plant for well lit fish tanks. It prefers neutral to slightly alkaline water, making it an ideal plant for use in many aquariums.
The Hair Grass plants offered are usually growing in grow wool as shown in the picture. The whole pot could be planted or the mass of spikes could be divided, before replanting in suitable gravel. Small new hair grass plantlets can be seen on the sides of the pot. These tiny runner are sent out as the hairgrass spreads.
