Fontinalis Plant
Fontinalis is often confused with Java moss but they infact two very distinct plants. Fontinalis moss is dark green and tolerant of low light. It grows small leaves about 5mm in length along stems that can reach 60cm. For best growth water should be on the acidic side of nuetral but it will tolerate a pH up to 8.
Like other aquatic mosses fontinalis can be attached to logs or ceramic pots with twine. After a period of growth the moss will become attached to the surface itself and the twine can be removed. Topiary balls seen for sale are also created using fontinalis.
