Aquarium PH Test Kit


ph test kitChemical pH test kits use bromothymol blue as the testing reagent. A sample of aquarium water is placed in a clear vial with a few drops of the reagent and mixed well. The water sample will change to a shade of either green, yellow or blue. Blue indicates alkaline, green is for neutral and yellow for acid.

Included with such pH test kits is a colour key that can be compared against the water sample. By matching the shade of color to the chart the exact aquarium pH can be determined. It takes only a few moments for the entire testing process to take place.

When performing the test be sure to use the stopper included with the vial. If you just cover the vial with your finger when mixing the reading can be false if there is any acicity on your finger tips.
