Undergravel Aquarium Filters

Undergravel filters are a popular filtration method. They were once considered a must have in any aquarium and are still very useful for today's fish keeper. By using them in conjuction with another filter you can optimise water quality. Sponge Filters can also be used alone in aquariums stocked with a lower fish density.

The undergravel filter utelises mechanical and biological filtration methods. Water is biologically purified as it filters through your gravel where micro organisms will colonise. Mechanical water filtration occurs as small particles lodge in the gravel.

KIS Undergravel Filter Review

KIS undergravel filters are made tuff enough for several years of use in the aquarium. The air uplifts come complete with air stones.

This model is available in two sizes. Each has 2 air uplifts and 2 panels.
In the smaller model the pair cover 484 x 242 mm; The manufacturer
suggests it's use for 10 gallon (40 litre) aquariums. In the smaller model
the pair cover 734 x 242 mm The manufacturer suggests it's use for
20 gallon (75 litre) aquariums.
