Ammonia test kits are perfect for monitoring the development of biological nitrifying bacteria in new aquarium set ups. Many aquarium owners never own more than a pH test kit. Some ammonia test kits use liquid reagents while others are based on dry test tablets. Either way a sample of water is taken and the chemicals added.
